Provide measured soil data where available, site geometry, system arrangement, prospective fault current and protection clearing times. Missing inputs must be resolved or documented as assumptions.
Lightning protection scope
Agree whether the appointment includes risk assessment, external protection, bonding, surge-protection coordination and interfaces with other structures and services.
Agree a document schedule
Layouts, calculation reports, material schedules, specifications and BOQs should be named in the appointment. Review stages, revision allowances and responsibility boundaries should be explicit.
Standards and acceptance
Confirm applicable SANS/IEC editions and client specifications at appointment. A standards list alone is not a certification claim. Installation and final testing remain distinct from design.
